Up & Down

Look what came in the mail today! ;-)
.
After 5 months of not having a garage door remote and the "joyous" fun of pushing the button and running to make it under the garage door before it closed ... We finally got around to ordering a replacement remote!  I was excited to find that they didn't cost very much so we ordered one and thought we would try it out before we ordered a 2nd one for Chris's car.  Anyway, I came home from work today to find that Chris had successfully programmed the new remote
and it worked like a charm!! Yeah!
                                                                       BUT ...

Later, after a quick trip to Walmart, we realized that the light bulb on the front of the garage door opener didn't turn on when we used the new remote to open the door.  Upon closer inspection, we saw that it was simply burnt out.  We'll that's easy enough, RIGHT?!  Just get a new bulb from inside and have your hubby replace it! That's exactly what I thought!  Until ... I hear a loud pop come from the garage and run out to find Chris with a very startled and concerned look on his face!  Long story short, after checking the breaker and taking apart the garage door opener, Chris discovered that replacing the light bulb somehow caused the wires behind it to short out and CHARBROIL the control board!!! ;-(      (Wording from Chris!)

Just when we had been feeling so good about finally getting a new remote, things go terribly wrong and we find ourselves looking online for replacement parts!  It looks like it will cost about as much to try to fix our old garage door opener as it would to just buy a new one.  So that is probably what we will do!  CRAZY!

I'm sure you have had a day like this!  We all have those days when it feels like we can't win for losing!  But I am so glad that we find meaning and joy in life not from our day going "just right" but from the One who makes all things beautiful in His time.  He gave Chris and I the grace to laugh together over our plight and enjoy the evening despite the unfortunate turn of events!

  1. How does it feel to be a "home owner". It's something every day. Remember my telling you
that no matter how well you plan, "life happens". I feel for you guys. Recently had computer hard drive, Steve's smart phone, and a new set of tires all in about a week. Hang in there. The Lord says He will provide for all our needs. Love ya
