Valentines Day!

We had a very busy but fun day on Valentines day.  ;-)  The day started off with Chris's followup appointment with Dr. Smith here in Atmore and we were very glad to get a good report.  He released Chris from physical therapy and said everything looked good!  Chris still has some work to do at home before he is back to his usual active self but he is well on the way.

We had both taken the day off work so we made the most of it by getting our taxes done, going out for lunch together (Firehouse subs ;-) mmm ... delicious!) and then a trip to Lowe's to buy my valentines gift!! ;-)  "You know you are married and a home-owner when ... you get super excited about a cabinet, shelves, paint & blinds to renovate your laundry room!"  We spent the rest of the evening relaxing at home.

Renovation Weekend - Chris had off work on Friday because of President's day so while I was at work, he started working on the laundry room. ;-)  When I came home for lunch he had everything pulled out and the spackling applied.  By Saturday afternoon we were ready to begin sanding!  Which, by the way, created a TERRIBLE mess!!  We both learned a valuable lesson ... do a much better job next time of sealing off the area/room where the sanding will be taking place!  Otherwise you will end up with a fine layer of spackling dust all over your kitchen!  Yikes!  Oh well ... nothing a little elbow grease and a mop won't take care of. ;-)  We were able to prime and apply the 1st coat of paint and then called it a day.  Sunday evening we finished painting, installed the cabinet and shelves and reinstalled the washer and dryer.  The renovation project is "complete"!  Here are some snapshots of our handywork. ;-)

Before ...

After!! ;-)
I absolutely LOVE my "new laundry room" ;-) ... I still have a little bit of touchup painting to do and Chris is going to make me a "counter" to replace the misshaped piece of plywood across the top of my dryer!  Now let's see if I do a better job of keeping up with the laundry around here.

Here are some pictures of the work in progress!
