We finally got the back flowerbed "finished"! I haven't planted anything yet, but it feels REALLY good just to have it looking nice and the bed prepared. Check out the wooden walk way that Chris made. ;-) Isn't it awesome! It's made entirely out of wooden pallets. Thank you Pinterest!
Atmore is one of the only towns I know of that grows the most beautiful flowers along Main Street! They make the town seem so much more cheerful and I love seeing them each morning when I drive to work. There are at least 16 planters overflowing with flowers as well as a hanging basket on each light post.
On Memorial Day weekend we went to Atlanta with some friends (Ryan & Rita) for a quick vacation! We had a great time. ;-) Rita lives in Baltimore and had planned to come down to surprise Ryan and thought it would be fun to go to a Braves game. She Facebooked me and asked if we wanted to go along! Of course we did. So ... she and I were very very sneaky and made plans for the 4 of us to go Sunday evening and stay though the afternoon game on Monday. Long story short Ryan was VERY surprised to see Rita and with the trip we had planned. Along with the game we stayed at a "unique" old hotel in downtown Atlanta, toured the Coca-Cola factory and ate at the original Chick-fil-A!
We chose the Highland Inn mostly because of its low rates and downtown location. Let me just say that other than the beautiful front entrance the hotel left quite a bit to be desired! We were able to get a good nights rest and enjoyed the adventure. ;-)
Why it was "unique" ...
* No air conditioning in the lobby or hallways!
* A large black cat curled up asleep in the lobby ... nearly scared me to death!!
* The bathroom door knob fell off in my hand!
* Breakfast consisted of a box of muffins, a bag of bagels and a gallon of milk!
* All other hotel occupants appeared to be Hippies!
About to head to the Braves game!
Turner Field! and ... 2 really good friends ;-)
The original Chick-fil-A was really neat! It is called the "Dwarf House" and features a full sit-down diner as well as their normal fast food menu. We, of course, chose to eat at the diner! They had burgers on their menu so I decided to try one. Unfortunately I would have to rate my Chick-fil-A burger as "worse than MacDonalds"! Pretty sad ;-( I wished I would have ordered my usual delicious chicken sandwich from their fast food menu! I think sticking to chicken was a really GOOD idea.
Now to switch gears a bit ... this past weekend We Care hosted our annual Softball Outreach. We had 4 teams come from PA & GA to play in the prisons on Friday and Saturday. Despite a rather wet and rainy Saturday the event went well and nearly all of the games were able to be played ... even in the RAIN! Here is a picture of one of the teams from Pennsylvania. (Steven, maybe you could come down next year and play?! Hint hint! ;-)
It's raining at our house again tonight! I think we have had nearly 10 inches since Saturday. We needed it, but I think we've had about enough for now! I had to laugh the other day when I was talking to a friend and commenting on the rain. Here we had prayed for rain and now we are hoping that it will stop soon!
Oh! I nearly forgot! Guess what ... Chris and I just finished DAY 4 of our Insanity workout program. Oh my goodness ... It is definitely INSANE! I was so sore the first day I could barely walk! Our goal is to get up each morning at 6 and do our workout before Chris needs to leave for work. As you know, I am not a morning person so this is not fun but it is very nice to be finished with it for the day and not have to dread coming home and having to do it in the evening. If we stick with it, we should be finished right before you guys come visit in August!
Well, that's enough for tonight! Love you guys and will talk to you soon. ;-)
