Today was quite a day! Chris graciously let me sleep in this morning while he got up early and went to help some guys from church replace the floor in Joe Sims trailer. Joe is a elderly man and good friend who is known for his love to play games and his punctual church attendance. If you don't shake his hand before the service, he will find you afterward to shake your hand and cheerfully say ... "You were late again!!" I don't know all of Joe's story but I do know he was an inmate years ago that was impacted by the ministry of Martin Weber (We Care). Joe challenges me with his incredible bible knowledge and love for his Lord.
I spent a beautiful Saturday catching up on some much needed housework and enjoying the sunshine coming through my open windows! It has been rather cold around here lately so 71 degrees felt heavenly. ;-) Oh ... I almost forgot to tell you about our supper last night! When I accidentally called Dad after work I mentioned that I was planning to try to make Coconut Chicken for supper. (A favorite of Chris's at our local Chinese restaurant!) I had finally found a recipe that sounded similar and had been wanting to give it a try for awhile. Well, Dad, I'm really glad you weren't able to come over for supper! After doing my best to follow the recipe I was a little unsure of the consistency of the dish so I asked Chris to come try it. Long story short ... after a quick taste test it was declared "AWFUL" and inedible! ;-( Chris tried his hand at "spicing" it up to mask the flavor but to no avail! What a disappointment! Chris kindly suggested that we go out for supper. So we ended up at Ruby Tuesday's instead of the Neighborhood Cafe!
Yesterday, I posted the sage of our diggin' dog. Today we made a very unpleasant discovery in one of her dig sites! A while back, we notice that Breeze had uncovered the corner of what looked like a concrete paver in the flowerbed along the back of the house. We joked about her uncovering buried treasure and wondered what it was?! Today we finally got around to investigating and much to our dismay discovered that it was the wooden lid to a "pet coffin". Can you believe it?!!!! Not at all what we were expecting!! I don't know what the previous owners were thinking! Thankfully the wooden box was built to hold a plastic bin ... which made the clean-up process much easier. Chris was a trooper and took care of it mostly by himself! It's one thing to bury a beloved pet under a tree in the backyard ... but right under my bedroom window, in my flowerbed, only a few inches underground?!?!?! I don't think so!!! I really hope we don't find any more similar surprises!
It's time to change the clocks back. ;-) SO ready for that extra hour of daylight each evening. Chris also burned a bunch of the trash from out in the shop today so hopefully one night this week we can do a final clean-up out there and be "done" with that project. The shop seems even bigger now that it's almost empty! The next step will be to remove the old haphazardly done wiring and completely rewire the entire place.
Well, I tend to ramble a bit when I start writing on here! I hope you guys don't mind. ;-) I think I'd better put some finishing touches of my preparations for church tomorrow and get to bed soon. Since it really is almost 10:00!
Love you lots, Hannah
