Itty Bitty Living Space

One week in and things are going great! Chris had to work late almost every day this week so I did a couple of small projects ... but we are mostly just planning and waiting for another work day with Tim on Saturday. ;-)  Thought I would give you a glimpse into our "Itty Bitty Living Space"! Actually things are working out rather well.  I know that the new, exciting feeling will wear off before too long but so far it still feels like a fun adventure!  Our bedroom feels like a hotel room with the addition of half a couch and the TV.  And my "office/craft room" is now Hannah's living room!  I'm grateful that the kitchen and bathrooms are still functioning normally. ;-)

I am looking forward to having a real bedroom door tomorrow.  If all goes as planned, Tim is going to help us frame up the bedroom wall and install a new door! Chris talked a couple of his friends (Jeffrey & Timothy Huber) into coming over tonight to help him reroute some electrical.  I can hear them in the attic and every now and then I am called in for a consultation! ;-)  Feels strange to be the woman with the "final" word on this project!

Here is another "After" picture ... trying to show you the open concept space! Still doesn't do it justice ;-)  Guess you'll just have to come down and see for yourselves!!

My favorite guy and our crazy "girl"!  Because the living room is under construction we have been allowing Breeze to come in sometimes in the evenings to hang out.  She LOVES it and now feels entitled to her spot in the house and has a pretty serious whimper when not allowed in!!

Decorating question that I am currently pondering ... What color beams do we want to install?  Painted White (to blend into the ceiling) or Stained a Dark Brown (to match the new flooring)??  Feel free to weigh in! ;-)  Your thoughts and suggestions will DEFINITELY be appreciated!

P.S.  We are planning to replace the beam you see in this picture and add a new one along the open joint between the flat and vaulted ceiling.

  1. I don't know how you make your blog so cute, but I'm jealous. Good luck with the renovations!

  2. Hey ;-) Thanks! It's called ... "The Cutest Blog on the Block.com" http://thecutestblogontheblock.com/ ... they have some great free backgrounds and templates! The renovations going good so far. Starting to get really tired of light switches that don't work! Mainly because even though I know it, I flip them "on" every time I walk into a room. Hopefully Chris can get some of them wired back up this week!
