Chris and the guys are workingout in the garage so I decided that this would be the perfect time for a much needed blog update! ;-) How is Mr. Jon doing? Been praying for him ... hope he is on the mend!
Noreen gets back from vacation tomorrow and I am SO ready! This past week I feel like I've been working at a full "run" trying to stay on top of everything. It has gone very smoothly and I kinda enjoy the challenge and change of responsibilities but I will be grateful for a more relaxed pace!
Now ... finally time to show off our (oops! I mean ... Chris's) new truck!! The other night we were on our way to small group and saw a stalled car at an intersection and Chris jumped out to help push the car out of the way. This required me to slip into the driver's seat to drive around and pick Chris up. Long story short, Chris wasn't too excited when I took the truck "hostage" and insisted that I be allowed to drive it for once!! Haha ;-) Needless to say, Chris is LOVING his new ride and we are beyond blessed with the vehicle God has given us!
We are still working on projects outside these days. On Saturday, we finished preparing a new garden site for Chris's mom. She wanted a VERY large garden so it took us (mostly Chris) several long days to get it tilled and all the grass removed. Saturday morning I helped Chris finish by putting in the rows! Someday I want a garden of my own but I'm really glad to be done with that project for now. ;-)
Look what we have been finding!! Black widow spiders!! :-( This one was on our back porch last week. We have seen quite a few and are definitely gonna have to do something about it! Thankfully none have found their way into the house yet, but we have seen them in the shop and on the back porch. I had never seen one with such a clear hour glass shape on its back!! Another one of God's amazing creatures but I think we would be better off if they didn't hang around our house!
Tonight we had a neighborhood friend helping us with our yardwork. ;-) He belongs to one of our neighbors but comes running over to see if we will play every time we are outside! Makes me want to have a dog of our own. He had us laughing when he went crazy trying to chase his tail. Wish I had a video to show you!! It was TOO funny! Anyway, not sure what is up with us and neighborhood dogs, but this one sure is fun! ;-)
| After a quick photo shoot, we DID rescue the hammer!! ;-) |
A sneak peek at the progress we have made on the back flowerbed! We still have quite a ways to go, but are really enjoying the process. It has taken some creativity to stay within our budget but I'm loving some of the things we have come up with. Tonight we started working on upcycling some old wooden pallets to create a wooden walkway to the water faucet. (FYI: Upcycling refers to a Do-It-Yourself project that turns something old or disposable into something new, unique and usable) Learn something new every day, huh?!! ;-) Our goal is to "upcycle" as much as possible to help keep the cost down! Besides ... its TONS of fun to do these projects together! We are also hoping to turn an old door from Chris's parents house into a patio table for our back porch. Can't wait to start working on that one. ;-)
Well, that's all for now!!
Love you all very much,
Hannah
